Marmbrandt Design AB / Eva Marmbrandt

I run my own company, Marmbrandt Design AB, and I work as a professional textile designer, product designer and consultant designer, both independently and in cooperation with colleagues. I do site-specific works as well as product design for the textile industry in Sweden and internationally. As an artistic coordinator and project manager I curate exhibitions and I lecture as well as teach in textile- and exhibition design. I also supervise students at bachelor level as well as master level and I have been opponent on masters projects.

From a designer perspective, you can say that my approach to textiles is three dimensional rather than two dimensional and I have a preference for working in the large scale, architecturally. I am interested in the potential of textile materials, especially in their functional properties such as the ability to absorb sound and filter light - and as no other material, textile has an absolute and immediate impact on a room. And when talking about design, beauty is also a function! For the final outcome the expression is as important as the function and the aim is to create unique design that will last for a long time. To sum it up you can say that I am responding to modern architecture, defining space and solving problems in the area of light and acoustics.
